Todd Nicewonger will be a visiting researcher and multi-modal maker-in-residence hosted by TVCRG and the Department of Anthropology this October 1–15, 2024!
As part of his NSF-funded research project on cold climate design and relocation planning issues in Alaska, he will be creating and workshopping an experimental book on floating foundations for homes in remote Alaska Native communities, which are increasingly threatened by climate change, including rising sea levels, riverine erosion, and permafrost melt.
The first charrette is planned for Thursday, October 10, 12:30–2pm, location TBD, with a second charrette involving his community partners and collaborators for Monday, October 14.
